This prototype strategy sandbox about drawing your own army and watching it fight on paper.

Instead of using fixed sprites, you create objects with a small built-in editor: draw a body, add wheels, rotors, weapon muzzles, melee points, attachments, and custom projectiles. Then place your creations into maps, build scenarios, or launch them into battle.

The game is still a prototype, but it already supports several connected systems:

  • Object Editor for creating buildings, vehicles, infantry, and projectiles
  • Map Editor with drawing tools, fill, eraser, passability lines, placement, save/load, import/export, and playtest
  • Campaign and map selection
  • Skirmish-style levels with enemy placements and destroy-all-enemies goals
  • Tower Defence mode with spawners, numbered path points, cores, waves, no-build/no-spawn zones, and build restrictions
  • Ink economy for building units
  • Component damage: wheels, rotors, axes, weapons, and body parts can break independently
  • Self-repair support for units that allow it
  • Built-in demo campaigns for Tower Defence and Skirmish
  • Browser-friendly built-in content loading

How To Play

Use Play from the main menu to choose a campaign or map.

In battle:

  • Use Add object or the build panel to place available units.
  • Ink is shown at the top of the screen.
  • Select units to see their HP, components, and available commands.
  • In Skirmish, destroy all enemies to win.
  • In Tower Defence, build defenses and protect the Core from enemy waves.
  • Use speed controls to accelerate TD or Skirmish gameplay.
  • Press Esc to open the pause menu.

In the Object Editor:

  • Draw the base body of an object first.
  • Add components such as wheels, rotors, axes, muzzles, or melee points.
  • Attached parts should have drawn artwork connected to their mount.
  • Configure weapon damage, range, accuracy, fire rate, attack type, and projectile.
  • Save objects into the local catalog or export/import them as files.

In the Map Editor:

  • Draw the battlefield background.
  • Add passability lines and obstacles.
  • Place objects directly onto the map.
  • Configure economy rules, rewards, and build limits.
  • For Tower Defence maps, add spawners, paths, cores, no-build zones, no-spawn zones, and waves.
  • Use Play Map to test immediately.

Prototype Notes

Pencils box is an early experimental build. Balance, UI, AI, pathing, and combat rules are still evolving. Some systems are intentionally simple, but the goal is to explore a playful “draw it, save it, fight with it” strategy toolkit where the editors and the game are part of the same toy box.
